Rebate Program Guidelines

Water-Device Rebate Program

The Woodfin Sanitary Water and Sewer District's Water Device Rebate Program is designed to provide rebates to homeowners and business owners who retrofit certain existing plumbing fixtures and appliances with those that use less water. As of the present date, rebates are available for the following devices and amounts:

  • High-efficiency washing machines: $50.00
  • Low-flow (1.5 GPF or less/dual flush modes) toilets: $50.00
  • 0 GPF urinal installations: $100.00
  • Tankless water heaters: $75.00
  • Low-flow faucets: $20.00
  • Low-flow shower heads: $15.00
  • Evaporation-minimizing pool cover: $25.00
  • 300 gallon+ rain harvesting system: $100.00
  • Galvanized or lead service line replacement: $100.00

All devices must be replacing older, less efficient devices to be eligible for rebate. Toilets must be replacing models using 1.6GPF (gallons per flush) or greater. In order to qualify for a rebate, devices must be part of the EPA's Watersense program. Eligible devices can be found on the EPA's website, www.epa.gov/watersense. Devices listed above but not part of the EPA's guidelines will have eligibility determined by the District on a case-by-case basis. As proof of installation, the District may require an inspection by District personnel before issuing a rebate. Applications for rebate must be made within sixty days of purchase in order to be eligible. Customers approved for rebates with accounts in good standing will receive a credit on their account provided total rebate funds for the year have not been exhausted.

New construction installations and renters are not eligible for participation in this program. Landlords may participate provided they have an established account with the District in good standing. The District is the final arbiter of rebate eligibility and all decisions are final.

Service Charge Rebate Program

The Service Charge Rebate Program is designed to reward customers who have been designated as medium or high-risk (Tier II & III) customers, and charged accordingly, who prove to be good customers of the District through timely payment of charges. The program works by refunding fifty percent of the original service charge to customers who meet the following criteria:

Renters, Tenants, and former Homeowners:

  • Must have initially applied for service after July 21, 2014, and paid a Tier II or Tier III service charge (currently $60 & $100, respectively).
  • Must not have more than one late payment during the previous two years of service with the District.
  • Must not have been disconnected for non-payment at any time during their service with the District.
  • Must not have any payments returned for non-sufficient funds or otherwise rejected by their financial institution.
  • Must have at least twelve consecutive months of service with the District immediately preceeding the rebate application.
  • Must have discontinued service with the District and all outstanding charges must be paid in full.

If a customer meets all of the above criteria, they may complete the online "Rebate Application". Applications will be reviewed and, if approved, a rebate in the name of the service customer will be issued. Rebates will be for a maximum of fifty percent (50%) of the original service charge and will be mailed to the address specified in the application. Rebate checks not cashed within ninety days of issuance will be voided and shall not be reissued.
